Priority One: Called to Account

bibleWelcome to the third of my Priority One series of blog entries.  I am choosing to start my week on Active Rain on Sunday with a post about about the Christian walk or something from the Word of God that has been encouragement to me.

Friday I wrote a post entitled Saturday morning floor time: Totally CLUELESS! It was meant to be a humorous recap of a phone call from my previous weekend shift on the phones. I am now thinking I was a little hasty in posting it.

While I am not generally sarcastic, and would never use sarcasm to be deliberately hurtful to anyone, I made a comment, and I'm not sure the person on the other end of my sense of humor thought I was being funny.  I didn't know the agent who called, and she didn't know me.  I'm afraid that I might have presumed she had a certain level of knowledge and experience, and I was reminded that she might be brand new to the real estate business.

Priority One: Called to AccountEven though I was "only joking", I am reminded that Matthew 12:36 tells us, "But I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken."  Since she didn't set an appointment to show the property, I don't know who she was, but I sense I might owe her an apology. And so, in the same forum that I publicized my hasty comment, I publicly give that apology. I am sorry if I seemed sarcastic or harsh, and I will remember the next time, that not only am I responsible for every word that leaves my mouth; I am responsible for the spirit in which those words are spoken.

As you go through your week, join me in being responsible and purposeful about the things you say.

Today I pray that we will each speak words of life, health, peace and encouragement to each person we come in contact with. Lord, help us to measure our words, and only speak those which will honor and edify You as we walk through this world as Your ambassadors...

Priority OneHave a great Sunday, and join me as I put God first in everything...He is my Priority One!

Other verses on our words:  Isaiah 58:13, Proverbs 12:18, Phillipians 4:5, Proverbs 18:21

Be Blessed!
